INDIANAPOLIS (WTWO/WAWV) – A local main street organization is receiving $5,000 from the state to help businesses that have been hurt by the coronavirus pandemic.
Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch and the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs announced Monday that 40 Indiana Main Street programs will receive $200,000. The funding is through Taking Care of Main Street, a new program aimed at providing operational support to main street organizations impacted by COVID-19.
Among the recipients is Downtown Terre Haute which will use the funding for salaries of the Office of Program Coordinator, as well as provide promotional help to local business that have been most impacted by the pandemic.
“Main Street organizations are a lifeline for small businesses who are doing their best to survive the effects of this pandemic,” said Lt. Gov. Crouch. “Ensuring small businesses are able to survive requires a comprehensive approach. This funding can help bridge the gap.”
