The Terre Haute Fire Department started getting calls about a blaze around 10 p.m. at 1803 Wabash Avenue.
There were four people inside the building when the fire started. Two of those people had to jump from windows to escape.
One person was transported to the hospital with an injury they sustained while jumping. Two other people suffered smoke inhalation.
Fire investigator Norm Loudermilk says the building contained apartments and a barbershop.
Firefighters have been working throughout the night to make sure the fire doesn’t spread to buildings next door.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
