OWEN COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A man pleads guilty in a drunk driving crash that killed a former Parke County Sheriff and his wife.
Bryan Robertson was arrested in 2017 after a wreck that killed Mike Eslinger, a former Parke County Sheriff, and Eslinger’s wife Darla.
While the case happened in Parke County, a judge granted a change of venue last year, moving the case to Owen County.
Robertson pleaded guilty this week to two counts of Causing Death when Operating a Motor Vehicle with an ACE of .08 or More and two counts of Causing Serious Bodily Injury when Operating a Motor Vehicle with an ACE of .08 or More.
An Owen County judge sentenced Robertson on each of the first two charges to 1.5 years in prison and 4.5 years probation. He received 910 days of probation for each of the other two charges. Robertson will also receive a total of 448 days of time credit.
After serving his time behind bars, Robertson will be placed on supervised probation for 14 years. The first three years of probation will include electronic monitoring. After being released from electronic monitoring, Robertson will be required to wear an alco-sensor monitoring device for four years.
His driver’s license will be suspended on each count for two years and the suspensions will run concurrently.
