BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Brazil man who pleaded guilty to attacking a woman with a hatchet while wearing a wolf mask was sentenced in court.
Michael Sheppard was taken into custody after attacking a Brazil woman after she attempted to get a protective order against him.
According to court documents, Sheppard left the courthouse after a hearing and returned to the woman’s home.
When she arrived, he attacked her with a hatchet outside the home.
Then, while wearing a wolf mask, he entered the home, fought with her mother, and attempted to make contact with a child inside the home.
Sheppard was charged with attempted murder, resisting law enforcement and intimidation.
Sheppard initial pleaded not guilty, but on September 10 Sheppard changed his plea.
Sheppard pleaded guilty on one count of attempted murder, a level one felony. Sheppard’s other charges of resisting law enforcement and intimidation were dropped.
On Wednesday, October 8, Sheppard was sentenced to a total of 30 years on the attempted murder charge. Sheppard has been given good time credit and credit for days previously served for a grand total of 482 days.
