CLARK COUNTY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Clark-Edgar Rural Water District has issued a boil order impacting a portion of customers due to an emergency line repair.
The Clark County Health Department issued a media release notifying of the order effective July 16 for parts of Wabash Township, parts of Douglas Township and parts of Darwin Township.
The release states, “Beginning at the intersection of E. 1050th Rd. and River Rd., continuing North to Weaver Rd. and North to Livingston Dr., continuing to the intersection of Cork Rd. including East Cork Rd. to County Rd. 1950 E. to the end of the line and including Co. Rd. 2060 to the end of the line and including North 2100th St. to the end of the line continuing North on Livingston Dr. to Co. Rd. 1950 N. going West to Douglas Rd. and North to the intersection of Highway 1 to the end of the line.”
According to the Clark County Health Department, if the first set of samples is found satisfactory, the boil order is estimated to be lifted on July 18. If the samples are unsatisfactory, the boil order will remain in place until further notice.
The CDC’s guidance for how to properly boil water during these situations is as follows:
- Fill a pot with water.
- Heat the water until bubbles come from the bottom of the pot to the top.
- Once the water reaches a rolling boil, let it boil for 1 minute.
- Turn off the heat source and let the water cool.
- Pour the water into a clean container with a cover for storage.
