TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A New Year’s Eve tradition made its way back to the Terre Haute Children’s Museum.
The annual New Year Kickoff at the Terre Haute Children’s Museum includes a big balloon drop at noon to replicate the signature midnight ball drop. There were more than 100 kids and adults that attended the party this year.
This allows the kids that usually can’t make it to midnight to be able to experience the excitement of the New Year’s tradition.
Susan Turner is the executive director of the Terre Haute Children’s Museum, and she expresses how this is a great way to start traditions with your children.
“I think it is so important to involve our kids in our traditions as a family. We as a society always make a big deal about New Year’s. You get to start over and have that fresh page to start the new year with. We want our kids to have that same experience just a little earlier in the day,” said Turner.
She also wanted to add how much she enjoys the energy that this event brings.
“I love this event because you can literally feel the tension an energy as the kids are counting down. It is an atmosphere that is nearly possible to replicate and that to me is what makes this event worth it to the kids,” added Turner.
The Terre Haute Children’s Museum will be opening their new Wallace and Gromit: Get Cracking exhibit on January 20th.
