TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Two Terre Haute men have been arrested after police say they fled a traffic stop and later were found to be in possession of nearly 10 pounds of methamphetamine.
According to Terre Haute Police, on September 28 drug task force detectives attempted a traffic stop on a suspect’s vehicle. The vehicle refused to stop and a pursuit began. Police said the pursuit ended in Clay County with multiple agencies assisting including the Indiana State Police and the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
Following the pursuit, Matthew Duran, 37, and Gabriel Barocio-Ramirez, 18, both of Terre Haute were placed under arrest. Police reported confiscating just under 10 pounds of methamphetamine with a street value of more than $50,000.
Duran was booked into the Vigo County Jail, according to court records he has been charged the following;
- Dealing in methamphetamine (amount more than 10 grams)
- A level 2 felony
- Conspiracy to commit dealing in methamphetamine (amount more than 10 grams)
- A level 2 felony
- Possession of methamphetamine (28 grams or more)
- A level 3 felony
Barocio-Ramirez was booked into the Clay County Jail, publicly available court records show he has been charged with the class A misdemeanor of resisting law enforcement.
