TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Harsha Behavioral Center in Terre Haute is celebrating its 15th anniversary of serving the community.
The center first started 15 years ago as a way to meet a need for intensive mental health services for children and adolescents. It has grown since then to now serve all ages.
Harsha’s president and CEO Roopam Harshawat said it’s only possible with the unwavering commitment, hard work, and passion of its staff members and that she’s grateful to the community for its support over the years.
“It’s a huge accomplishment. We have come up very long way. We started in a 36-bed hospital just for children and adolescents, and this was in August of 2008. Now we have 81 beds with a brand new building that we moved into it in 2016 and as you can tell, everybody compliments on the beauty of this building,” said Harshawat.
Harsha has also started a non-profit called Naveen to help make mental health services more affordable and accessible.
Looking forward, Harsha hopes to receive a grant to start an IOP program to help students struggling with mental health.
