VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A pet has died and a home damaged following a house fire in western Vigo County Tuesday.
According to Honey Creek Fire Battalion Chief Josh Sittler, the call came in of a fully involved structure fire at a residence on Certain Road at approximately 2:46 p.m.
Sittler said firefighters were able to get the situation under control within 20 minutes of arrival
No people were home at the time of the fire, however one pet died as a result. Sittler added that Red Cross has been contacted for the people displaced by the incident.
The cause of the fire was ruled accidental.
