TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A project that will help homeless veterans received a generous donation today.
Movement Mortgage donated $10,000 dollars to the Veteran’s Village Project. The project will create six tiny homes that resemble studio apartments at Maple Avenue and North 23rd Street in Terre Haute.
Movement Mortgage branch leaders said the Veteran’s Village is a project that is very near and dear to their hearts.
“We see the homeless population a lot, especially veterans, it’s important for us, along with home ownership which we preach so much about, for them to have a place to live, so it’s very important to us,” said Beth Harris, Mortgage Movement branch leader.
Those involved with the project said they hope to have all six tiny homes constructed by the end of the summer. The Terre Haute Area Association of Realtors continues fundraising to support the project’s future costs.
Tami Kolodziej, Funding Committee Chair for Veterans Village, explained some of the ways people can be involved with the project, “We’re also selling bricks that they can have placed here, $75 up to $100,” Kolodziej said.
