TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Catholic Charities in Terre Haute is celebrating 50 years of service to the community this year.
Agency Assistant Director Jennifer Tames said the organization supports tens of thousands of people in the area each year. “We are working with individuals, many of whom are low-income, some have had just a tough way of life.”
Tames joined us live Monday morning on WTWO Today to talk about the organization and how it has impacted our community over the past 50 years.
“When we’ve got individuals who are facing homelessness and are housed at Bethany House emergency shelter, they’re receiving case management and educational opportunities so they can become self-sufficient on their own.”
Catholic Charities plans to host events in September to celebrate the milestone. Tames said they will still put on their annual fundraisers like the Quick Quack Trail Run in June and the Rubber Duck Regatta in July.
