PARKE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Two Parke County dogs are reportedly on the mend, and their original owner has been charged with cruelty to animals after deputies discovered them in need of shelter this week.
Tuesday, just before the winter weather arrived to the area, Parke County deputies reported finding two dogs in need of medical care. The dogs were then given a ride to the Parke and Vermillion County Humane Shelter to keep warm during the storm, and to receive the medical care they needed.
According to public court documents, a warrant was issued for the owner’s arrest Friday. Deputies later announced that they had found and arrested the owner of the dogs and charged him in relation to the two dogs’ conditions.
Greggory Fransted, 28, of Mecca is reportedly being held on a $5,000 bond and charged with two counts of cruelty to an animal, a class A misdemeanor.
The Sheriff’s Office also let residents know that they followed up on each of the dogs, and the Humane Shelter staff reported they are healing and doing well. A representative at the humane shelter asked residents to not call about adoption as the dogs are still in the process of being brought back to good health.
