VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A trial date has been set for a man facing a murder charge in connection to a deadly shooting.
The shooting happened in early September along 8th Avenue in Terre Haute.
Richard Sandlin appeared in Vigo County Superior Court 3 Monday morning. The judge set Sandlin’s pre-trial conference date for February of 2023, with the jury trial scheduled for March 20 of the same year.
Sandlin will first have another hearing later this month, set for September 26.
Terre Haute Police arrested Sandlin in connection to a shooting incident earlier this month. Police say Donald Riley died after being shot at a home on 8th Avenue.
Sandlin was first identified as a person of interest in the case, and police spent several days attempting to locate him.
Eventually, Sandlin was apprehended in northern Vigo County, and booked into the Vigo County Jail on a charge of murder, among several other charges.
