The meteorologists of WTWO record weather data for the National Weather Service, including rainfall amounts.
People always want to know how much rain did we get? Accurate readings are important. There’s a simple and inexpensive way you can make your rain gauge right at home.
You’ll need a two liter bottle, then carefully cut off the top. Get six-inches of masking tape, a ruler, and make marks on the six-inches of the masking tape.
Fill the bottle with about one-inch of water so it doesn’t tip over. Place the top piece you cut off on top of the bottle. Then put the masking tap on the bottle so you can see how much rain fell.
There you go. Pretty simple to make your own rain gauge. Send us your rain reports and we might mention you on-air.
