TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Terre Haute German Oberlander Club has announced that the upcoming 49th annual Oktoberfest will be taking place at the Wabash Valley Fairgrounds.
After being held at the Meadows Shopping Center in 2021 with covid protocols, the organizers say they are excited to return to the fairgrounds and the Expo Hall.
“We held this annual fall festival at the fairgrounds for many years, and it’s nice to be returning this fall. The fair board has made a lot of improvements to the facilities and the Expo Hall will be a great all-weather venue for the fest.” festival chairperson Brad Cress said.
This year’s fest will be a two-day event, September 16 and 17 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and will be held rain or shine.
Featuring authentic German food, a biergarten with an assortment of German and domestic beers for adults 21 and over, as well as family-friendly fun.
Live music will also be included with the 12-member Kalles Blech Buaba brass band from Gosheim Germany kicking things off from 2-5 p.m. followed by Jay Fox and the Jammin’ Germans and the Streamliners who will play sets from 5-10 p.m.
Parking for the event will be free, with admission costing $1. Kids 12 and younger get in for free.
Proceeds from the festival help fund the Francis Sanders Memorial Scholarship Program, community projects and other Oberlander Club programs.
