TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Terre Haute could soon be getting a second Culver’s restaurant.
An application sent to the Vigo County Area Planning Department shows that Culver’s Terre Haute is hoping to develop a Culver’s at the Fairgrounds subdivision on a parcel of land at 3901 U.S. Highway 41 owned by the Wabash Valley Fair Association, Inc.
Documentation sent to the Area Planning Dept. shows that Kurt Hamilton, President of Wabash Valley Fair Association, Inc. would lease the land for the purpose of developing a Culver’s restaurant.
Culver’s owner Matt Bilyeu confirmed the plans to expand to a second location, adding that the Culver’s Terre Haute brand “reflects well for a partnership with 4-H and the fairgrounds”.
Bilyeu added that the Wabash Valley Fairgrounds is a “major asset” for the community, and he looks forward to joining together on sustainability ag projects and partnerships.
The land will need to be rezoned from an open space district to a regional commerce district. This rezoning is on the docket for the next Area Planning Dept. meeting on June 1.
