TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — From livestock to drones, drones to race cars, local high school students showcased their skills and knowledge on a variety of topics Friday.
It was all part of Ivy Tech’s 2022 Cob and Cog event. The event focuses on engineering and agriculture based competitions.

Over 600 area students took part in the competition. Winners were recognized with medallions and banners, while the grand prize was the Cob and Cog trophy.
Organizers say there’s a number of reasons to hold the event.
“Number one, exposure to Ivy Tech, to help the recruitment process for students who want to get into high wage, high demand jobs,” said Dean of School of Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering and Applied Science at Ivy Tech Terre Haute David Will. “But while they’re here we need to entice them, right? so the way we entice them is having fun, energetic events that students can participate in.”
Ivy Tech says it’s grateful to all event sponsors including Duke Energy who were the main sponsor of the competition.
