TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A place for individuals in recovery from addiction to socialize and make community connections held its grand opening Friday.
The Recovery Cafe, now located at 1400 South 6th Street, celebrated its opening with a ribbon cutting and multiple speakers.
The nonprofit organization will offer a place for those in recovery to go to, where they can connect with other like-minded individuals committed to sobriety.
The Cafe will be open on Tuesdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There is no cost to attend and free meals are provided. The group only asks three things for those wishing to participate.
- Be sober for 24 hours before arriving.
- Join the “Recovery Circle” which is a weekly meeting group.
- Give back by volunteering at the cafe.
“We really just offer this radical hospitality space,” said cafe manager Lindsey Skelton. “Where people can feel welcomed, safe, and loved.”
There are now 47 recovery cafes across the country.
