A man died Friday night in southeastern Vigo County after a tractor overturned on top of him, pinning him to the ground.
According to the Vigo County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were sent to Lewis, Ind. Friday night in reference to a tractor that had overturned on top of a male. Upon arrival, deputies found a 51-year-old male pinned underneath a tractor.
The male was pronounced deceased at the scene by medics, police said. An initial investigation by deputies has revealed the cause to be accidental, according to a news release.
The name of the victim is not being released at this time, pending family notification.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the victim,” County Sheriff John Plasse wrote.
