SHELBURN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The entire municipality of Shelburn, Ind. and customers of Wilfred Water Corporation were issued a boil water advisory Monday morning that will last 48 hours unless otherwise notified.
Shelburn Municipal Water Utility said in a news release Monday that certain precautionary measures are required by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management’s Drinking Water Branch that caused the advisory.
The water utilities companies are advising customers to immediately flush internal plumbing until
clear water flows from faucets after normal water pressure is restored. Then boil all water used for hygiene and consumption for one minute.
In a press release from the municipality, officials said this will affect all Shelburn residents. The Wilfred Water Corporation also clarified that the boil advisory includes customers on County Rd 315 east of Shelburn as well as all customers west of County Road 315 E.
The boil advisory is scheduled to expire around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 22. If this end time changes, this article will be updated to reflect the shift.
