TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Wednesday afternoon, residents were invited to meet the new Vigo County Coroner, Dr. Janie Myers. The Vigo Pachyderm Group hosted Dr. Myers at MCL Restaurant & Bakery Meadows, as she told the audience about her duties as a coroner.
Myers has over twenty years of experience at Terre Haute Regional Hospital as a laparoscopic surgeon. She says after taking some time to think, she realized how beneficial her expertise would be to Vigo County.
“I think sometimes when we get older, we get set in our ways and we don’t take chances. We’re just scared of the unknown. This is something I never would of thought that I would be doing, but I’m happy that I was asked. I’m happy that I was able to win. I’m happy I’m able to provide my services to the community,” Dr. Myers said.
She says during her campaign, she hand-wrote over 100 letters per night for weeks to get her name out to voters.
