VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — With social distancing restrictions still in place in Indiana, the City of Vincennes on Friday announced the annual 4th of July parade would be canceled.
“Throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic, we like most civic organizations have made decisions that have only one objective: to do whatever is in our power to keep our community healthy,” Mayor Joe Yochum said in a written statement.
The fireworks display will go on as planned; however, it will be moved to a new location, according to the mayor.
To assist in social distancing, the fireworks will be shot from Richard Bauer Drive.
“This will allow more people to see them from their homes and other various locations,” Yochum said. “We ask that people stay with their families and remember social distancing guidelines.”
