GREENWOOD, Ind. — Indiana American Water announced Friday the utility will restore service to previously shut-off customers and discontinue any further service shut-offs as the country grapples with the COVID-19 virus pandemic.
According to a press release, restoration of service could take some time, but the utility company will “work as quickly and safely as possible.”
With employee health and safety in mind, the utility also said all non-essential field appointments will be suspended, and employee contact with customers will be limited during all emergency field appointments.
“Indiana American Water has been focused on two high priorities as the spread of the coronavirus has evolved – the health and safety of our employees and the health and safety of our customers,” the press released stated.
The company also noted that Indiana American Water’s drinking water treatment barriers provide protection “that includes filtration and disinfection of our surface water supplies and disinfection of our ground water sources. These treatments are effective in removing and/or inactivating viruses.”
