VIGO COUNTY, Ind. — Stolen guns found in an abandoned vehicle in West Terre Haute have been returned to the rightful owner, according to authorities.
An Indiana State Police trooper found the guns Friday while investigating a vehicle found partially in the roadway at State Road 63 and Barnhardt Road. During the investigation, the driver of the vehicle, 26-year-old Cody W. Doss of Terre Haute returned with a gas can.
Doss is facing charges for unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, theft of a firearm, drug possession, unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle and resisting law enforcement.
According to ISP, the owner was “grateful the guns were found, due to sentimental values and public safety.”
