When Center-Jackson Fire Territory responded to 6661 Wine Street in Owensburg, they discovered a couch that had been on fire several hours before the call. According to authorities, the couch had burnt itself out, and the entire home was covered in soot.
Upon further investigation, firefighters found Jose Munoz dead inside the home.
An autopsy performed Thursday determined Munoz died of smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation; however, foul play is not suspected at this time.
