Each week, I’m highlighting some of my favorite new songs!
Some are new singles, others are album cuts, but they’re all guaranteed to be stuck in your head all day long!
Did you miss me?
It’s been a busy couple of weeks at the station BUT that doesn’t mean that I’ve abandoned my quest to find incredible new country music cuts!
It did, however, mean that I didn’t quite have time to write about them, though…. So here we are!
Let’s get back into it with the latest from Kane Brown!
Here’s the thing with Kane: I always think I won’t like his music and CONSISTENTLY he comes up with catchy tune after tune and I’m pulled right back in.
He’s said that he’s taking his time working on this next record because if he’s going to be spending the next two plus years performing the songs, he wants them to be just right (and not be bored to tears every night). He also promises that it’s genre blending and true to the form we’ve come to expect from him even if it is a little “ intimidating ” to make a follow up to his widely successful debut.
Lose It is the latest taste of his upcoming sophomore studio album and, if it’s any indication of what’s to come, I need to brace myself. It’s a jam that steadily builds on itself until you find yourself at the end and completely unable to resist bopping along.
Like, IMPOSSIBLE.
We get that signature Kane growl at the beginning with a little steel guitar but the rhythm is this perfect fusion of country, R&B, and hip hop – a reflection of Kane himself. In fact, it’s no wonder that Time Magazine named Kane as one of the 31 People Who Are Changing the South . Citing his insane streaming numbers and popularity with the Youths on social media, Time praises Kane for “bucking norms at every step of his journey” like becoming the “…first artist to top all of Billboard’s country charts simultaneously.”
Also, it’s definitely worth mentioning that the cinematography on this video in particular, which was one of the Top Five Trending Videos on YouTube when it debut earlier this year, is STUNNING. Particularly, the shot of Kane standing on the roof of the car at sunset took my breath away; it’s nothing short of masterful. (And just plain cool.)
