TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — While Terre Haute firefighter Rodger Plunkett II sits in jail awaiting trial on charges of child molestation, Fire Chief Jeff Fisher is pushing for his termination.
Fisher said he is advocating for the termination based on Plunkett’s “violations of rules and regulations of the fire department” separate from the criminal charges, though Fisher noted the criminal investigation brought the violations to light.
The Terre Haute Fire Merit Commission will have final say on Plunkett’s employment.
A closed meeting will be held Oct. 24 to discuss the matter.
