SULLIVAN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Two women were arrested on Monday after a traffic stop, and authorities have reason to believe they were involved in multiple vehicle break-ins that happened late Sunday night.
A 17-year-old female and an 18-year-old passenger identified as Jakaylee Smith, both of Sullivan, were arrested after a traffic stop.
The authorities said they smelled marijuana as they approached the vehicle. Upon further inspection of their vehicle, multiple stolen items were found along with marijuana.
Jakaylee Smith, 18 years old, has been charged with theft, possession of stolen property, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle, and possession of marijuana.
Her bond is set at $5,000 with 10% allowed.
The juvenile, 17 years old, has been charged with possession of stolen property, unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana, and possession of legend drugs. She has been processed through the Juvenile Justice System.
Both women are in the Sullivan County Jail.
Residents in and around Sullivan are urged to check their vehicles for any items of value that may be missing.
