Tuesday he met with educators and community members at Quabache Elementary School for his tenth presentation.
Those in attendance gave their opinions on how the school corporation could cut expenses. Some examples given were to sell the Aquatic Center and rent it out when needed, move and re-district the administration building and school consolidation.
This week, Haworth will announce where the corporation should make cuts that information is based on input from the community.
Officials hope this will ultimately help reduce four million dollars in the budget.
“We want the community meetings to still be relevant, so when people come in, they’re not just hearing about the referendum, because that is only a part of the action we’re taking. We’re also looking for successful 4 million dollars worth of cuts and where those should come from,” Haworth said.
Haworth says 80% of the community have no connection to Vigo County schools, so it’s important to share how finances could negatively impact the future of Vigo County schools.
The remaining meetings will be held at elementary schools on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, until October 17th.
