TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Local people took part in a worldwide climate change protest Friday.
A group gathered on Indiana State University’s campus.
ISU Professor Jim Speer says the goal of the event is to voice concerns on global climate change.
Speer carried a sign that said ‘I’m a sciencist and I stand with the youth’.
“The science is solid that climate change is happening. Temperatures are increasing and IPCC is stating that we have about 11 years left to reduce our carbon emissions to hold temperature increase at 1.5 degrees celsius,” says Speer.
Many young people are getting involved in the movement, like teen climate activist Greta Thunberg.
