TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Community members gathered at Indiana State University Friday to take part in a Worldwide Climate Strike.
Professor Jim Speer said the goal of these events is to voice concerns on global climate change–a movement many young people are getting involved in.
Speer carried a sign that said, “I’m a scientist…and I stand with the youth.”
“The science is solid, that climate change is happening,” Speer said. “Tempatures are increasing and IPCC is stating that we have about 11 years left to reduce our carbon emissions to hold tempature increace at 1.5 degrees celcius.”
