BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Restoration will begin soon on a local warplane memorial.
An aircraft that was used in the Korean War sits on the lawn in front of the Clay County Courthouse in Brazil.
Volunteers will begin restoration of the memorial this fall.
The goal is to restore the plane to what it would have looked like in the 1950s.
“It’s been there for a lot of years and to be quite honest with you, it’s in disrepair. We are putting together a project to restore that plane how it should be. It’s our Korean War memorial that sits up there with the other war memorials on the courthouse lawn and it’s time that we take action, and something is done with the restoration of this aircraft,” says Mayor Brian Wyndham.
The restoration is expected to be completed in spring of 2020.
