VIGO CO., Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — No criminal charges will be filed in a Vigo County election case.
Special prosecutor Ann Smith-Mishler notified the Indiana State Police that no criminal charges will be filed in the case of Tess Brooks-Stephens.
Smith-Mishler was asked to look into the case after it mentioned that corrective fluid may have been used to alter an election document for Brooks-Stephens after it was filed.
Brooks-Stephens was a Democrat candidate for the Terre Haute City Council.
“Upon review of the documentation received from the Indiana State Police, I did not find sufficient evidence to warrant proceeding with filing criminal charges against any individuals involved in this matter,” Smith-Mishler said.
