GREENCASTLE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A correctional officer at the Putnamville Correctional Facility in Greencastle, Indiana is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with an inmate.
Barbara Kapaun, 52, of Vigo County, Indiana was arrested Sunday for official misconduct and sexual misconduct following an investigation by the Indiana Department of Corrections. She was transported to the Putnam County Jail pending posting of bond.
Kapaun has been placed on emergency suspension pending the criminal charges.
“We have a zero tolerance policy on this type of misconduct by our staff,” said Internal Affairs Lead Investigator James Smith. “We will arrest and seek prosecution against any employee who chooses to make these decisions.”
Formal charges will be
determined by the Putnam County Prosecutor’s Office.
