Bucshon has hosted several town halls this week, including Linton and Evansville.
So far, he says many people have shared similar concerns.
“I think right now health care costs are a big issue, border security and immigration are big issues, and those are the hot button things,” Representative Larry Bucshon, Indiana 8th District.
Wednesday, Bucshon had the chance to hear from folks in Terre Haute about what concerns them most.
Bucshon says in Terre Haute he did hear some different topics that have not been brought to him in recent days.
“More personal issues, like I heard tonight about student loan debt. I hadn’t heard that in the last couple town halls,” Bucshon said.
Local resident, Jamie Kiefner, says she came to Wednesday’s town hall to ask Representative Bucshon his thoughts on decreasing interest rates for students loans.
“My husband and I pay over a thousand dollars a month in student loans. My husband’s actually been paying on his student loans since 2007 and there doesn’t seem to be a decrease in the balance,” Kiefner said.
Kiefner says she does feel like Bucshon was able to answer her question, although they don’t see eye to eye, but she is worried that her concerns will not be represented in Washington.
Bucshon was not able to answer all questions at Wednesday’s town hall due to time.
Bucshon says those questions will be answered through a written response in the future.
Buchson will host another town hall Thursday at Washington High School at 6 P.M.
