SULLIVAN Co., Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — In December 2012, Lowell Badger was found dead in his home by his son Alan Badger and Alan’s wife.
Lowell Badger was killed after his home was broken into in the middle of the night. He was 85-years-old.
Since then, Lowell Badger’s killer has not been found.
“Pretty tragic event, pretty sad event. But a pretty challenging one to get through without getting some closure,” Alan Badger said.
Alan said he and his family work closely with law enforcement to get the murder solved.
“We just try to encourage them to continue working on it. To continue looking for answers,” he said.
Recently, Badger’s family and community found a new way to do some of the work themselves.
“We came down to the signs. And we thought we could put them out in yards or in the roads,” said Lowell Badger’s nephew, Rudy Nichols.
The idea came from Kingsley Memorial Church where Lowell Badger was a long-time member.
“Our minister came up with the concept of what’s on the sign and then went and had the signs made,” Nichols said.
They hope the small signs will make a big impact that could lead to them finding Lowell Badger’s killer.
“These signs are just an option to put out there to remind folks that you can make a difference. And we ask if you would to step up and make that difference,” Alan Badger said.
Those interested in putting up a sign can get one from Kingsley Memorial Church or First Financial Bank in Sullivan.
There is also a $30,000 reward for any information that can help solve the case.
Indiana State Police said they are actively investigating the case.
