LINTON, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Lots of people who enjoy off-road activities have been anticipating this day for a long time.
After months of being closed for construction, Redbird State Park in Greene County reopened to the public.
The outpour of excitement was overwhelming for park officials.
Since the closure, two miles of trails were improved and officials say it’s more sustainable. A single track was also added for dirt bikes.
We talked to the property manager who says they’ve been getting calls for weeks asking when they would reopen.
“We had a line of visitors starting at 9:30 and it was non-stop for about an hour so people are very excited, we’ve sold several annual permits, which I didn’t really expect being this late in the season,” Redbird property manager Carman Jackson said.
This was just phase one of improvements to the park. Phase two is anticipated to start within the next year.
It will pave roadways that will help move the facility’s building gate house for an improved and easier to access entrance.
