TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Two weeks after Vigo County government computers were targeted by suspected ransomware, the Vigo County Sheriff’s Department is now dealing with a similar issue.
According to the Sheriff John Plasse, his department’s computer operating systems were infected with a malware virus over the weekend.
Plasse assured the community that IT staff are actively working on the issue.
“The most significant impact the community may experience is a delay in email response from Sheriff’s Office personnel,” Plasse said in a community announcement. “There will be no interruption of law enforcement services provided to the community.”
