TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — If everything goes according to plan, the Vigo County YMCA pool could soon be re-opening.
The Terre Haute Board of Public Works Monday approved a two-year contract with the YMCA to reopen the pool.
The contract will take effect Sept. 1.
The pool closed
a year ago due to financial concerns; however, Terre Haute
Mayor Duke Bennett
announced earlier this month that the City would take on some of the financial burden.
The YMCA will continue to pay rent and a monthly stipend to help offset utility costs of the building.
A formal signature is still required from the YMCA board before the contract can be finalized.
While the contract will begin Sept. 1, a date has not been set for the pool’s official re-opening.
