TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Local children are getting a new experience to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing.
The newest exhibit at the Terre Haute Children’s Museum is called “To the Moon and Beyond”.
It features presentations from former math and science teacher Diedre Adams.
The exhibit has hands-on activities for kids and families, including solar system exploration, a “walk on the moon” and even real moon rocks.
“This is truly a historical event that’s coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the landing on the moon, so it’s really cool that we were able to work with NASA and secure a set of moon rocks to come to Terre Haute and expose our children to the wonders of space,” says Susan Turner, the museum’s executive director.
The exhibit continues through July 28.
