PARIS, Ill. — A 24-year-old male passenger was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Paris Wednesday.
The driver of the vehicle faces several charges including charges related to operating a commercial vehicle without the proper license.
According to the Illinois State Police, Brett Bell, 24, of Paris, was traveling southbound on E. Terre Haute Road near Midwestern Gas Street when, for an unknown reason, the truck tractor and semi-trailer he was driving left the roadway and overturned on the passenger side.
The passenger was pronounced dead on scene according to Edgar County Coroner Scott Barrett.
Bell was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.
Bell was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, improper lane usage, improper operation of a commercial motor vehicle and failure to wear a seatbelt
The name of the victim is not being released at this time pending notification of family.
