The old train depot on Mill Street has seen many businesses filter in and our of it’s doors.
Since 2015, Jay Southwood the treasurer of Shelburn, has been renovating the building with hopes of turning it into a historic restaurant.
Southwood says the community has been very supportive of his plan and they look forward to the developments.
“I’m hoping this building will be the corner stone, this building and this project will help revitalize our downtown. We own the property just right across the street,” said Southwood. “And we own some property just a half a block away that we’ve got green space. So we’re hoping to bring some more commerce.”
Southwood is still seeking out tenants and hopes to have a restaurant in the building by the end of the year.
