TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — One Fourth of July event at Fairbanks Park in Terre Haute could win someone $10,000 or more.
The second annual Catholic Charities Rubber Duck Regatta will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Twelve thousand rubber ducks will be dumped into the Wabash River at the State Route 40 bridge. The first duck to pass the finish line will win its owner $10,000 and a chance to win $1 million.
The Regatta has become of the non-profit’s biggest fundraisers.
The importance of that is really the number of individuals who are assisted in West Central Indiana with that food assistance, with shelter, with after school programing and with brand news items for Christmas.”

This year, Catholic Charities hopes to raise about $50,000.
For those who haven’t purchased a duck, they will be available Thursday before the race at Fairbanks Park.
