PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A Brazil man was arrested for killing a man on I-70 this evening.
The accident happened near mile marker 56 in Putnam County.
Indiana State Police were told a van driven by 42 year old Brian Rosano was weaving out of traffic on the roadway.
Rosano hit 66 year old Freddie Smith of Sacramento, California, who was outside of his disabled truck setting up roadside warning devices.
Smith was pronounced dead on scene. Rosano was taken to the Putnam County Hospital.
It was discovered that he was under the influence of a controlled substance.
Rosano faces possession charges, operating a vehicle under the influence and while endangerment to others.
He also faces causing death of another person while operating a vehicle under the influence.
Once Rosano is released from the hospital he will be taken to the Putnam County Jail.
