SULLIVAN, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Strong winds on Sunday left the Sullivan community with fallen trees and without power for hours. Officials said the storm had winds 40 miles per hour and stronger that caused trees and limbs to fall.
Duke Energy District Supervisor Jim King said the town alone had around 500 power outages. King said his crews were out all night restoring power to Sullivan and two surrounding towns which had roughly 650 outages altogether.
Sullivan Chief Deputy Jason Bobbitt said there were no reported injuries from the storm, but that there were several damage reports from flooding and fallen limbs. He said luckily most of the damage was to powerlines.
Residents across town gathered limbs, twigs and branches Monday, but some called local tree service to cut down and dispose of entire trees that were blown over.
