TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Creatures like snakes and alligators may not be the cutest or the cuddliest, but they were celebrated today during the Creepy Crawly Fest at Hawthorne Park.
People of all ages were invited out to learn more about the creepy crawlers that live in the Wabash Valley and around the world.
Snakes, spiders, lizards, and more were highlighted with live animal presentations, crafts, and other activities.
The event is designed to showcase these creatures not as gross or scary, but as essential parts of our environment.
“The more that everyone understands and learns about different insects and animals that scare them, that fear will dissapate and you’ll understand and appreciate their worth to the environment,” said Laura Maloney with the Vigo County Parks and Recreation Department.
