EFFINGHAM – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced Wednesday that annual road striping on state highways will begin Monday, and will continue through October.
Fresh center lines, edge lines and no passing zones will be applied to more than 2,000 miles of pavement in the following counties: Clark, Clay, Coles, Crawford, Cumberland, Edwards, Effingham, Fayette, Jasper, Lawrence, Macon, Moultrie, Richland, Shelby, Wabash and Wayne.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through these areas.
Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices, be alert for workers and equipment and avoid driving over wet paint.
